Ark for CDC now supports Oracle’s spatial data replication feature
ArkData, a Korean company specializing in integrated data replication solutions, announced on June 23 that it has added Oracle Spatial Data Reproduction Function to the new version of Ark for CDC so that heterogeneous data reproduction technology can be used effectively in various fields.
Ark for CDC is Korea’s first heterogeneous data replication solution that supports Oracle’s spatial data replication function.
‘Spatial’ is a function that supports the storage and management of spatial data in a database management system (DBMS) at the level of a relational database management system (RDBMS). Spatial data refers to information about geographic locations and features of the Earth that is often used in geographic information systems (GIS). Spatial data information is stored in a coordinate format, so that it can be displayed and searched, and can be used for map search services on portal sites, location search for navigation of vehicles, information retrieval based on geographic information commonly found on web pages of public institutions etc. In addition, spatial data can be used to express geographic features, but also includes data from a computer-aided design (CAD) or computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) system apart from geographic information.
Although this spatial data information can be processed by a separate engine instead of a DBMS, it has recently become common to use a mixed format with a GIS-related engine and a DBMS. Meanwhile, due to the unique characteristics and structure of GIS data, the only CDC solution available in Korea that supports spatial data reproduction was a foreign product. However, it was difficult to institute the product easily, not only because of the construction cost but also the high maintenance control cost.
Ark for CDC is a heterogeneous data replication solution based on log analysis engine technology independently developed in Korea for the first time. It has gained popularity due to its low total cost of ownership. It guarantees business continuity and increases business efficiency.
